A 3" vintage "mercury" glass Christmas ornament.  Light purple color with angels and a bar of music indicating the song Silent Night.  When held up to bright light, wear from the inside can be seen.  Through time, some of the inside silver lining has fallen off.  The ornament still looks very good.  The outside applied decoration show very little wear.  A rare find.
 
Mercury glass, also known as silvered glass, contains neither mercury nor silver. It's clear glass, mold-blown into double-walled shapes and coated on the inside with a silvering formula.
